Masculine Card

Or is it? Does it matter?
It has Masculine colours, just not sure all those swirls would appeal to a man? I asked my husband if he thought it masculine enough and he said “you know what, men just don’t care, but Yes, it is a bit masculine” How’s that for honesty I ask you?

P1030717

Well, this card was made for a man who really does mean the world to me – and surprise, It’s not my husband! This man is however related to me, so don’t go thinking there’s some funny business happening here!

The sentiment comes from the Word Play set by Stampin Up, there are two embossing folders used on this card – the Square Lattice & Finial Press. The Top Note die was used to cut Real Gray CS and then was cut in half and scored along the bottom a couple of times using the Simply Scored tool and the Swirls Sizzlit was used to add a little decoration. A button from the subtles collection added some interest as did the little brads.

I used the sketch challenge at
Sunny Challenges and Creations this week, which is the sketch and a male theme too if you can manage it.

SC 05112

I’ll also enter this card into the SUO Challenge which calls for button and brads this week. Perfect! I hope this provides you some inspiration for making a male themed card, but hey – the males just don’t care anyway, so please yourself.

Mojo Wedding Shower Card

I had a lot of fun making this card using some lovely  products and techniques and the Mojo Monday sketch.

P1030725

The designer paper is called Twitterpated from Stampin’ Up and the stamp set that I used is a really old retired Stampin Up set that I haven’t got a name for and it is stamped with Marina Mist ink.

The panel of hearts was made with cardstock – Whisper White and Pink Pirouette. I used the Hearts Punch to cut some pink hearts and adhered them randomly to the Whisper White base, sponged the edges and after the glue has dried from sticking down the hearts, I embossed the whole panel with the polka dots embossing folder. (yes, I had an issue there that ended in me scrubbing my embossing folder clean!)

This is the Mojo Monday sketch for the week…
Mojo251Sketch
These lovely little flowers were made using Pink Pirouette card stock and the Floral Fusion Sizzlit die. The cardstock has been split and peeled apart to give a fluffy, velvet, suede look to them. The centres were then sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds glitter. The same glitter was used around the scallop circle.

Top Note Easel Card

Hi Everyone,

I’ve been wanting to try using the Sizzix Top Note die for Stampin’ Up as a base for an easel card for a while now. It’s the perfect size and so easy to do I don't know why I haven't done it yet! A Christmas theme was in order for July and I’ve not kept up with my weekly Christmas Card make for some time now, so Christmas it is!

P1030668

Dasher is used here again, obviously a favourite of mine, along with a sentiment from the Four the Holidays stamp set. I just love this beautiful scripted Merry Christmas. It's stamped directly onto designer paper from the Twitterpated series.  I’ve embossed the whole lot with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder to represent falling snow. The small friend sentiment is from the Tiny Tags stamp set, and the pleated satin ribbon in Riding Hood Red is covering the edge of the paper.

P1030671

As you can see – It’s an easel card, made very easily with the Top Note die. Simply fold your cardstock base and place it over the Top Note Die with just 3 sides being cut (leave the folded part just inside the cut line).
Then cut another single Top Note shape to build the card front.
Assembling is simply a matter folding back the top of the card base evenly in half and attaching the card front so that it’s in position with the base card.
The folded back piece adheres to the back of the front piece in the top section only.
So here it is open and standing up. An oval sentiment popped up on a scallop oval provides a stopper so that the card stands up.

P1030670

I love the ease of this easel, excuse the pun lol

I’ll share this card with the following challenges:-
Crafty Annes Challenge – Easel Cards – good timing I think! lol

Inspire me Fridays – Always Anything Goes Delightful Sketches – Christmas in July

Mojo Fifth Avenue Rose

Hi Everyone,

I’m back and have managed to do my Mojo Monday sketch for the week and what a sketch it was, so many elements to it – here is my card, a beautiful black rose!

P1030663

The beautiful rose from Fifth Avenue Floral was heat embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss powder onto Black cardstock and fussy cut out.
I then highlighted areas of the Rose that I wanted to coat in glitter using the Versamarker and Heat n Stick Powder. The Versamarker lets you put glitter just where you want it and is great for doing fine lines. The Stampin’ Glitter is Dazzling Diamonds – it is truly very fine in texture and it sticks well using the powder.

I used the same Pear Pizzazz coloured paper from the Twitterpated Designer Paper pack that is in the current mini catalogue to make the leaves and the underlying mat – just offsetting the pattern.

Not only did I use the  Mojo Monday sketch, but also the Colour Q challenge colours…

Mojo250Sketch       cqc146

What a blast of fun I’ve had making this card – lots of Sizzlits (Floral Fusion, Little Leaves, Lots of Tags) cut out with my Big Shot and various papers/ cardstocks. Also one of my all time favourite stamp sets – Fifth Avenue Floral – which is possibly going to be retired in September when the new catalogue arrives. boo hoo.

P1030661

The sentiment really appeals to me as I am far from a perfectionist and I could really use this as a motto to slow down and do it right the first time!

Hope you all are having a lovely day, perhaps sitting by the ‘puter having a cuppa? Whatever your doing, enjoy and I’ll catch you later.

Happy Christmas Dasher

Hi Everyone,

A quick share of a Christmas card I’ve made using the Mojo Monday sketch this week.

P1030656

I have really been enjoying the Dasher stamp by Stampin’ Up. It’s so versatile! Here I have stamped it in Soft Suede and used my Versamarker pen with Heat n Stick powder to apply glitter to some select areas of the stamp. Of course there is glitter everywhere in this photo because I was in such a hurry to blog it that I haven’t shaken all the loose glitter off yet! lol

Here is the Mojo Monday sketch this week…

Mojo249Sketch

The designer series paper that I’ve used in this card is called Just Add Cake, and I’ve used matching cardstocks in So Saffron yellow, Baja Breeze blue and Whisper White of course! The sentiment is from a retired set, but it’s stamped and cut out with the Word Window punch and layered onto the Modern Label punch. I also used the ever popular edgelits to cut the Poppy Parade red designer paper and emboss the edge with the coordinating embossing folder.

Thanks for stopping by to check it out, I’ll be back again soon Smile

Inspired Wishes

Hi Everyone,

I’ve been playing with some items that are new to me – rubber of course! Getting all inky with it and being inspired by not just the ink, but by a sketch challenge too!

P1030647

I got a little ‘rippy’ with the paper and have a great tip for you. If you want to tear the edges of paper and can never get it to tear relatively in a straight line – Use a water brush to run a line of water around the edge of the paper to soften it, then simply pinch off the edges – they go all pulpy and easy to pull off but give a torn edge look.

The sketch inspiring me today was from a new challenge site called Sunny Challenges and Creations, and here is their sketch for this week…
SC 04812

I love the Inspired by Nature stamp set – it’s new to me – and I have no idea why I waited this long to buy it! Just look at what I made my very first go at inking it up. It’s been stamped in Old Olive and Chocolate Chip. I used these colours because that was the second part of Sunnys’ challenge – to use these colours, but they look awesome together anyway.

P1030646

Another new to me stamp set is the Sincere Salutations – how beautiful are they – and they fit inside the X-Large Oval punch perfectly, which in turn fits inside the lovely frame from the Lots of Tags sizzlit. (I’ve embossed it using the Square Lattice folder just to give it some oomph.)

P1030645

Card Makin Mamas also have a challenge going to “get out the rubber” – I don’t think I could have found more rubber than that unless I was at the drags on a Saturday night! lol
The other place I’d like to share this is Inspire me Fridays – the stamp set is Inspired by Nature and the name kind of fits with challenge don’t it?

Well that’s it from me for now, I’ll be back again to share some more ink around Smile

Yellow Kindness

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick post to share with you…it’s late on a Friday night here and I’ve had a huge week, and am looking forward to an early start in the morning for a market stall - so I’ll keep it short and sweet Smile

I saw a discussion on a forum somewhere recently – which I didn’t join in to, but it got me thinking. The discussion was about the colour Yellow and how little people tend to use it or like it. It got me thinking – I do not use yellow enough! I like Yellow! Kindness really does matter so today I’m being kind to yellow.

P1030639

I really like the layout of this card – I cased it from the Stampin’ Up Ideas book and catalogue! (See page 71!) Mine’s a little different, but the layout is essentially the same.

P1030640

I really love playing with shimmer mist and totally coated this chocolate cardstock
he he he!
The butterflies and sentiment are both from the Stampin Up Kindness Matters stamp set, which you can also see on page 71 of the catalogue. (see the link to the online catalogue on my sidebar if your interested). I coloured the butterflies with my Stampin Write markers and the blender pen.

Enjoy….I’m off to bed

Mojo Melon Mambo

Hi Everyone,

Thought I’d better get in and do my Mojo Monday card for this week, here it is…
P1030631

 and here is the sketch….
     Mojo248Sketch

I have stamped the large rose from Fifth Avenue Floral in Crumb Cake ink on the white base, framed it with Melon Mambo and went ballistic with the paper piercing tool! I love how the Mat Pack keeps you going in straight lines.

A little (well sort of little) package arrived just in time from Stampin’ Up with my order this month and I was able to use the Floral Fusion sizzlit to make a flower. I stamped in Melon Mambo on the white flowers that I had cut (using the Triple Tread flower stamp).

The little leaves sizzlit is there too.

Designer Frames embossing folder with Oval All stamp set for the sentiment and it’s layered onto a crimped piece of Crumb Cake that has been swiped over with White Shimmer Paint.

I went with a colour combo from Dynamic Duos
DD#9

Crumb Cake with Melon Mambo was my choice, only Whisper White kind of got in there.

Hope you like my card today, I’ve had a rather crafty afternoon and have a couple more cards to share with you using Crumb Cake card stock over the next few days. I’ll keep you posted. Thanks for dropping by and hope to see you again soon..

Matchbook Note Holder

Hi Everyone,

Just thought I’d quickly share this cute little matchbook that I made some time ago now.
P1030353

It was done in Rich Razzleberry / Tempting Turquoise / Black card stock. For a little project, there sure are quite a few tools used here:-
Beautiful Wings Sizzlit die, Scallop Oval Punch, Large Oval Punch and the  Extra Large Oval Punch, Scallop Edge punch, and Ribbon Border Punch! Embossing folders – Square Lattice and Designer Frame, stamp sets – Oval All and My Friend.

The stamped image was done on glossy paper and sponged over with matching inks – maybe a little Island Indigo too – since I love that colour so much! It was then cut out with the Extra Large oval punch – as this fits inside the Designer Frame almost perfectly! I just ripped around the frame for a rustic edge.

Here it is opened up
P1030354

And here’s a different view
P1030355

If you’d like to make one of these yourself, there is a tutorial on Split Coast Stampers you can go in search of.

I’d like to share it with
Come and Get it Challenges – cute as a bug , and I picked the cutest bug of course – a butterfly!

Hope I’ve given you some inspiration – be back in a day or so again Smile
