Rosey Mojo

Hello Everyone,

I’ve gone all rosey for Mojo Monday #191 and figure it’s the perfect card for my Nanna’s freinds’ 95th Birthday. It says nothing about Birthdays, Age or Life in general – it is just plain pretty. Lets face it – by 95 you’ve heard it all but you’ll still appreciate Prettiness. I hope!

I used a cuttlebug embossing folder on only half of the base apricot colour card and surrounded the different elements with gold foil stickers to make them stand out. The gorgeous little stamp (which is out of it's packet and has no name) has been gold embossed on a spellbinder circle and layered on a spellbinder scallop to match. A few gold brads and a nice banner and voila! done!

Hope you like my take on the sketch this week. I was aiming for a vintage feel without the shabby bits

Mojo Monday 177 - Sweetheart Be Mine!

Hello again,

My Mojo for this week is a little late due to the Dentist wanting to pull out the remains of my tooth, which had snapped off last week whilst eating a nut bar!The snapping didn't hurt, the old tooth was dead from a root canal 20 years ago, but the pulling sure did.

This took me ages of mucking around to get it right, and I'm still not entirely happy with it.  As you would know I'm not one for making everything perfect, the sentiment is a bit too messy me thinks, but here it is anyway.

Here is a bit of a close up of the little birdie - it's from stampin up and while I don't have that punch, my friend Trish does. I dabbed green perfect pearls all over his wing and across the top. It's really shiny, but as usual doesn't show in the photos.

The background was a pretty metallic paper I picked up at my newsagency and embossed with the new Stampin Up embossing folder. I love this folder!!! Again the shine is not showing darn it!

The lace is a strip of seam from an old lace jacket that was past it's prime and much more suited to my cards lol. get it jacket - suited, small pun there.

Seeing as how Valentine's Day is getting closer and a couple of Valentines' challenges are running too, I thought I better pull my finger out and do something.

This card was made with left-over bits from my Vintage Card Class with J.A.M, I am going to use every last scrap of that sheet of paper it was so very pretty.

The L on this card is a chipboard letter that has been embossed with black glitter embossing powder, it really shines, I was very pleased with how it turned out. The rose stem has been threaded with Beads and the whole thing glued ontop of the L. The rest of the Love word and the sentiment is a simple rub-on.

I have also used some little clear beads and bits of lace here and there. The whole left side of the paper is trimmed with a little pom pom style lace which I had been dying to use and not found the right place for until now. Here's a close up for you....

I especially love how the paper is folded back revealing the underside which has a bold black herringbone pattern on it, and the rose is kinda tucked in there peeking out surrounded by clear beads and more lace here too, they all offset that gorgeous paper.

 

In the bottom corner I have added more lace and beads with the rose, along with these stemmy blobs that will be perfect for the inner stamens of flowers. I don't know what they are called, but I found a packet and have a couple of hundred of them now. They are just gorgeous.

Well I'll enter this over at Sandies Place for her February Challenge which is themed with Fabric & Love. I got the Love right, the fabric is a bit lacey though lol.

There is also  Challenge # 14 at Stamps R Us with Valentine/Love theme that I think this card fits perfectly. Even though I've not used a single stamp here!

Vintage Vogue 'ish Canvassy Thingy

This is what I've been playing with in Girl World all day today.

I had the time out from everything today and decided this was a perfect opportunity to have my own take on something I did in a class quite some time ago with a lady named Kasha. ( I think that's how you spell it). Anyway I really enjoyed the board we did in her class. I have packed it away now, so can't show you a photo of it, but it was really lovely.

This is my take ...

 

I started with a plain piece of cardboard, it's about 33cm long and 23cm high.

I distressed the cardboard and pulled the top layer off to reveal the corrugations underneath around the edges only. Then coated the whole thing with a coat of pink acryllic paint. Dried it off with a heat gun and gave it a rough coat of some green'ish blue acryllic paint, but only brushing it on here and there to give a mottled look. After drying this coat off, I then smooshed some silver acryllic metallic paint around in the same manner. The whole board was covered in mottled pink, green & silver by this stage.

I already had a theme in mind as I had these lovely vintage prints & birds in cages so I wanted to create a kind of trapped love feel to whole thing. (I am married after all, ha get it - trapped love? he he he)

I then took some pink tissue paper and stamped some random patterns onto it - the diamonds across the top, the little flowers in clusters, bits of a background stamp that has words on it and the scroll type things. Make sure the tissue paper is a little larger than your board so you can fold it around the sides. 

The whole board is then covered in watered down PVA glue and the stamped tissue paper is laid over it and more PVA glue is brushed on to hold it all in place, even going over the edges and around the back to seal it all on good and proper.

This is then allowed to dry properly before you stick on you pictures, flowers, chipboard embellishments, whatever you want to stick on there just do it! I have used the same process with the PVA glue to stick my paper cut outs on. I've brushed a bit more silver paint here and there over the top and added some glitter paint too. 

I glued on a couple of small silver pegs to hold the hanging rope and ta daaa. It's done.

(mind you I will probably change the gold rope to silver when I find some)

Here are some close ups of the decorations.

The silver paint is very shiny and a little difficult to photograph, but you get the idea.

One of these days I'll figure out how to place these photos in some semblance of order. But at least you can see them. The colour isn't showing too true, so here's another with the flash on and we'll see if you can actually see pink and green.

Ahh that's a little better.

I really enjoyed making this canvassy thingy and hope you enjoyed looking at it.

Vintage Card Class at J.A.M

Well, as promised yesterday, here are the pictures of the cards I made at the class with Jackie.

I do recall that some of the papers are made by Websters Pages and that I love the lace and glitter and flowers sprayed with Tattered Angels stuff.

Now because the devil is in the details I'm gonna post some close ups of all those lovely bits...

 

One of these days I'll figure out how to move all these pictures into the spots I want them!

Sorry it's all a bit out of kilter, but you can see them at least.

I really enjoyed doing this class, my friend Trish came along too and had some child free time during this school holidays. I think she really appreciated it.

Magical Mojo #172

Finally pulled my finger out and got my Mojo on for the week.

Was inspired today by some Vintage cards I made at a class - I'll show you them later (gorgeous!), for now, here is my Mojo Monday 172 Sketch.

I have used cream cardstock and inked the edges with Stampin Up "Pumpkin Pie" orange.

Then matted a distressed edge Kaiser paper for the background, from the Empire Collection, inked on the edges with a combo of "certainly celery" and "marina mist" to kind of tie into the colour of the sentiment backing.

The sentiment is stamped from a Rosie's Studio clear stamp set, as is the Fairy.
The orange patterned paper (also edged with the same combo),  were used today in my class at J.A.M (see later post for details of class done), anyway I've no idea what the paper was called but had these left over.

There's a little bauble ribbon under the sentiment that was in my stash and the pearl flourish was from Kaiser.
