A Reel Great Fathers Day Card

Hi Everyone,

I’ve made a card for Fathers Day for my Dad, who is a bit of a keen fisherman.

First of all, I needed Fish! I had seen fishies made using the Blossom Petals Builder punch and matching stamp set and decided to have a go myself. I also used a Stampin’ Write marker for the lines on the fins instead of the leaf patterns available in the stamp set. 

This is what I came up with….

Secondly, I cased an Idea I saw in the latest Australian Cardmaking Stamping and Papercraft magazine…Fishing line and the sentiment using REEL instead of REAL.
 I thought it a lovely play on words and decided to use it
– so that’s my child like hand writing on there.
(which is all good, 'coz I’m sure my Dad see’s me as a 3 year old still he he he).

The DAD sentiment I wanted to make special though, so I used the Broadsheet Alphabet set and my trusty stamp-a-ma-jig to line up the letters. It's also been "rock and rolled" in both Pool Party & Night of Navy inks. I really like the combination of these two colours. Hope you like my fishy idea, I’m going to share it with…

21st Birthday Card for a Man

Yes, he is now a Man!

Happy Birthday to my nephew Jason – he is off partying hard in Surfers Paradise with his mates for his birthday so I haven’t actually given him this card yet! Bless him, he’s usually such a good boy it’s good to see him mucking around a bit

I used the Mojo Monday sketch for a bit of inspiration and went to town with textures for this card. I used the Simply Scored tool to make a diamond pattern on Crumb Cake CS and then swiped a Not Quite Navy ink pad over the raised areas – very roughly. I also used a pile of brads and string and faux stitching and wild drawing to make the circle in the pattern. I went a bit wild with the drawing and covered it up with a circle of Not Quite Navy CS. The colours have come up a bit funny in my photograph, they are matted onto black, but it kind of looks blue? Anyway, here’s the sketch…

The numbers were random chipboards found in my stash and I coated them with some So Saffron ink and then stamped the floral pattern from the Hello Friend stamp set over that with Not Quite Navy ink and then..embossed the top with clear embossing powder to make it shiny. See..

Masculine Birthday with Sweets

Hi Everyone,

I’ve been having a fun time making this card with built in sweets box for a certain Father In Law whose birthday is coming up in a day or two. The paper is from the Stampin’ Up Well Worn pack and it’s been layered onto Crumb Cake cardstock to make the front panel of the card.

The “construction” part of the card is made with Soft Suede cardstock and a piece of acetate is used in the window. I really must get myself the modern label punch – it would have made the perfect window! Once again I’ve used a tutorial from Split Coast Stampers to create the base of this card - that has a box off to one side that is filled with sweets. (candy coated liquorice in this case )

The sentiment is from the Stampin’ Up set called Punch Bunch and it is layered onto a plain tag which was cut using the Sizzlit called Lots of Tags that is available with Stampin’ Up. Here I have cut it from Crumb Cake cardstock, but because it didn’t stand out too well, I sponged over it with Cajun Craze ink. There’s a little bakers twine wrapped around it too.

Yes, that is the Ribbon Border Punch again – this time in Not Quite Navy cardstock. Heck, who needs ribbon with a punch like that! A little scrap of cardstock was embossed with the Lattice embossing folder and put across the top of the box on top of some extra score lines. (oops)

Hope you like this very masculine card – I’m sure my Father in Law is going to love the fact that it has sweets in it – even if he is Seventy odd years of age!

Tiger Special

Sounds like a Chinese dinner doesn’t it! he he – not quite!

I made this card with an image that my friend Trish loaned to me. At least she loaned me the stamp, I had to colour the image myself, which was quite a bit of hard work I must say!

I used Copic Sketch pens where I could (if I had a colour that worked), the rest is just done with ordinary connector pens.

I have also used a new stamp that was purchased at the Brisbane Papercraft Fair, it is the sentiment, I love it – it has it’s own border!

This one is going to my Dad, he likes Tigers, although the ones we see are White at Dreamworld lol.

I have made this cute little boys Birthday  card using the Mojo Monday #194 Sketch this week. I really liked this sketch for incorporating bold colours and they’re just perfect for this skate-boarding boy stamp.

Man’s Birthday Card

Hi Everyone,

 I had occasion to make a male birthday card – it’s for my father in law who is a mad scotsman and a car enthusiast. I hope he likes it. Probably won't know if he does or not coz I can't understand his accent! lol.

I absolutley love the way it turned out, so I'm sure he'll be pleased that I made an effort for him.

It's all about the papers here - and I've left their names out in Girl World and it is also much too cold to wander out there now and go searching the bin for the little strip off the bottom lol. I'll update them here tomorrow though to make it up to you if you really wanted to know what they were.

I do know the sentiment is a Stampin Up stamp and is cut with the SU Word Window and layered on SU punches – oval and scallop oval. Gee they come in handy all nesting perfectly like that! 

I’ve also edged all layers with Ranger ink – tea dye.

I made my hubby a birthday card and used the Corrosive Challenge Sketch #115 to do it.

Drunken Mojo Combo

Hi All, that was a catchy heading wasn't it! lol

I have combined two challenges today, the first one being my regular Mojo Monday sketch - this is # 184 (for mojo not me lol) and the second is a themed challenge from the girls at Drunken Stampers for Challenge #60 and it's an "All about Him" challenge for masculine cards.

Here is my take...

this is the Mojo sketch...

I loved doing this card, despite there not being a skerric of ink on the page. I did some sewing and cutting and tying and sticking instead. The paper is from Kaiser - I think it's called Tron or something similar.

My hope in making this card is that my friend Ali has a little boy sometime soon and I can send this card down to her. She hasn't told us what she's having so there's a lot of guessing going on, and she is due any time n

Papermates - February

Hi Everyone,

I was going to leave this post until tomorrow - but the kids across the road are having a party and I can't sleep - so here I am telling you about my wonderful day and the gorgeous 8 cards I made today yahooo!

I have been going to my local Papermates club one Saturday each month for a few months now and enjoy the company and gossip and cards immensely. They're a great bunch of girls :)

This month we had to take a shoebox with 8 Kits of one card and instructions on how to do it, then everybody made 8 cards - i won't go into the detail of how boxes were chosen it's too tedious to mention really.

Anyway - here are the cards I made, which were designed by 8 other girls and made by me.

I love them all!

I adore the torn strips of paper here - gorgeous paper!

This flower was a mission, but worth it, look at the detail

  
And the butterflies below were so easy it wasn't funny (die cuts will do that I suppose).

Another easy one above, but very effective and useful for anything with no senitment.

A mans' card that is to die for!! I love those nuts and bolts.

A very different design that was quite awesome I thought. The whole card is stuck flat and the heart opens up to reveal a little tag tucked into the base card that has the sentiment on it. Check it out!

This sweet flower was lovely and the butterfly is dimensional, sweet.

Water Colour pencils made this flower really pretty, and the back-ground paper has the swiss dots that I like.

Over all I had a wonderful day, and while I'm a little tired I am still pumped about the cards I made.

My own card will probably be found over at Trish and Treasure at some stage - Silly me forgot to take a photo of it myself, but Trish got to make it today so I'll let her show it off! Check out her blog anyway at http://trishandtreasure.blogspot.com she has some pretty good stuff on there!

Big Brother's Birthday Card

Hello, thanks for coming back to my blog :)

I've had to make a quick dash back to Girl World today (after spending all day in there playing with paint and ink and all sorts of things which I'll show you later) because it's my Brother's Birthday and I nearly forgot!!!!

Don't know how I could possibly forget the fact that he gets a public holiday every year because he's an Australia Day baby  (jealousy & sarcasm should be detected here).

Anyway, here's the quick  card I wacked together for him. Found a piece of paper with some boyish patterns and colours on it along with some pre cut letters that my friend Roz gave me ages ago as they were surplus to her needs. Did a little stamping and colouring and false stitching and Bro is sorted!

For Dad

Gee have I been busy, it's my Dad's birthday today and had to make something quick quick quick for him.
Don't know where I'd be without Stampin Up I tell you...made this quick card with Stampin Up stamps, paper and some ribbon and a brad from my own stash. I'll post up the paper & stamps used when I get a chance to get back out to "Girl World" tomorrow and write down their names.

Card Art Tart's practice post - first one!

I made this card for my good friend's son on his 15th birthday. 


All the items I used were from Kaiser Craft. 
(Paper, Rub-Ons, Mini Letter stickers, brads and Chipboard numbers.)
The stars were cut out from the paper and layered onto cardboard to give them some strength to stand out on dimensional tape.
I really like the torn effect and layering of different papers.


I think he liked it, but who knows with teenage boys!
