Mojo Forever Thank You

Hello Everyone,
I’ve done my Mojo Monday card for this week – in by the skin of my teeth again! What a busy time of year for me..Oh well, you know what they say – no rest for the wicked lol!

Here is my card…..
P1020357

This week I used Stampin Up papers from a set called “blueberry crisp”, alongside the little birdy from the SU stamp set “Every Moment”, which is coloured with water colour pencils. The tag is from my stash of chipboard stuff, and I changed the sentiment to suit myself with an embossed Thank You  over the top. The base card has been embossed with a flower pattern and a little ink ran over the raised sections.

P1020358

The ribbon is just White satin and I’ve tied the tag to the bow with a smaller white satin ribbon that is edged in silver. I didn’t want the edges of my bow to fray, so I dipped them in pva glue and ran them into some glitter, just to add some bling. A couple of little blue buttons finished off the sketch nicely.
Here is the Sketch for this week…

Mojo201Sketch
Hope you like my take on it Smile

That’s it for me at the moment….except this little sneak peak of a project I’m currently working on.
P1020362

These are two layers of a three layered explosion box I’ve been putting together for my friend Kristy.

Kristy lost her best friend in the whole world to a heart attack at the age of 43, and only 3 months after giving birth to a beautiful baby boy. That little boy is now 3 1/2 and Kristy was going to give him a photo album of these pictures of his mum. I had a better idea of course!

The Mojo card made me think to share it, because of the sentiment "Forever Thank You" That's how we all feel about having had Fiona as our friend. Forever Thankful.

I’ll post it in more detail when I’m finished. I just wanted you to know why I’ve not posted many cards this past week Smile

Happy Birthday Roz

Hi Everyone,

I’ve created this gorgeous tri fold card for my girlfriend Roz’s Birthday.
Annabelle Stamps Challenge Blog are having a Say it in Cream, Red & Chocolate, so I decided to go with that colour theme. It was a lot of fun to make!

P1020322

I started with Cream cardstock – cutting the template out. Then used Red cardstock as the base for each little section. I covered the base with a beautiful Vintage style patterned paper. (thank you Trish – it is one of the papers in the huge pizza box of vintage papers you gave me for my birthday last month.)
The red paper was a bit loud so I decided to do a second paper on top – I used a script pattern and ripped all the edges to reveal the loud red paper underneath. The edges of this layer were torn and inked with Tim Holtz Distress ink “Fired Brick” mixed with a little perfect pearls. I also stamped a rose in SU Rose Red over the script. The Rose stamp is from Kaiser Craft.

P1020325

When I inked the edges I had left over ink on my craft mat and decided to make the big rose from Kaiser that I used on the front match the small roses that were in my stash and dribbled the leftovers onto the middle section of the flower.Spellbinder Labels 4 is layered for the sentiment.

P1020326

The sentiment is from Kaszazz, a Happy Birthday Stamp. The butterflies are cut with the Beautiful Wings Sizzlit from Stampin Up.

P1020328

I made a tag to write on (it’s written on the back), using my Sizzix Big Shot and Tag die. Decorated it with the same Red patterned paper and the left over ink on my craft sheet. This is tucked into a pocket on the back of the sentiment and can be pulled out with the little bit of ric rac attached to it.

P1020332

I stamped a couple of roses onto left over cream cardstock and then covered them with Dimensional Magic to make them all glossy. I cut them out with a round punch and placed them at random on the card and the tag.

I’m actually quite chuffed with how this card turned out, and Roz absolutely loved it which is awesome coz she’s a lovely lady and it made me feel good to please her.

Hope you liked it. It’s going into not only the Annabelles challenge, but also at:-
Stamptacular Sunday – A pocket challenge – that’s where the tag hides.
http://stamptacularsundaychallenge.blogspot.com/2011/07/challenge-121-hot-pockets.html
Ruby's Rainbow Challenge Blog – Vintage – I think it has a vintage feel with the papers and distressing.
http://rubysrainbow.blogspot.com/2011/07/c8-vintage-dt-call.html

Must go, have been out eating the most divine cake in celebration with Roz & Trish this afternoon and both the dog & I need a walk!

EDIT....
This beautiful card was a favourite at Annabelles and they sent me a lovely blinkie to tell everybody about it - I'll put it in my side bar ladies, thank you so much :)

Mad Mick’s Mojo

Hello Everyone,

I strapped into my seat today and made this crazy card for my nephew’s Birthday. He’s a mad keen dirt bike rider and this little fella from Kenny K shares his name – Mick – and they’re both a bit mad I reckon!

P1020317

Here’s a close up of my colouring…
P1020319…using Copic’s and Stampin’ write markers.

You may notice the blue mesh behind my biker, I’ve been dying to use this stuff and putting it on a card for my nephew is perfect.

Why? I hear you ask – well because my brother is a metal junky – He has the hugest shed on his farm full of all the mechanical bits and pieces that a farmer collects over the years, he hoards it - I call him Steptoe! lol. I also added this little spanner I found at Spotlight coz it seemed to go well Smile

P1020320

Hope you like Mick’s card – he’s 15 now and giving my Brother a run for his money too lol (hope he doesn't see this on Facebook - I'm sure he doesn't look at my stuff lol)

I’ve used the Mojo Monday sketch #200 this week, getting in by the skin of my teeth no doubt. this is it…Mojo200Sketch

I’m also gonna enter into a couple of other challenges:-

Anything goes at inspire me fridays:

Hoo’s Birthday?

Hello Again,
Yep, been busy creating stuff, here’s some more.
I was looking at the CASE Study Challenge this week. The muse this week is Dawn Wolslagle and her card just blew my mind! Being a bit brain drained myself after all the end of financial year stuff keeping me flat stick at work, the best thing I could come up with was a case of the technique used with the layout used, I just have totally different ambience happening that’s all. Smile

Here is my card…
P1020316

I’ve used an owl put together with my girlfriend Trish’s SU Owl punch. We had an punch art day and made owls and penguins and all sorts, so I have a whole bunch of these to use yet. The branch is a die I picked up at the Brisbane Paper Craft Fair (he he he – yep there’s still more coming).

Here is the muse’s card…
CASE Challenge #48

The technique used was to emboss the background with randomly placed image, as you can see Dawn used the leaf image and plain versamark with embossing powder and I’ve used the owl image with blue ink and clear embossing powder.

P1020315

You can see how shiny my owls are, and I glittered their eyes too! lol
Dawns’ card is much more sophisticated than mine, but I like the result.
Have a great week and Ciao for now Smile

Butterflies My Friend

Hello Everyone,

I’ve made this lovely butterflies card using the Movers & Shapers Die from Stampin’ Up.

This is the first thing I’ve made with it and apart from having a fight with the glitter coz it wouldn't do what it was told, I quite like the result.

I cut the paper (cheapie paper pack from Sam's Warehouse) and the card stock at the same time so that the window was in position correctly when I stuck the paper down. I then embossed the front of the card with a butterflies embossing folder.  A butterfly on the front to finish.

P1020305

I also cut out the border from the paper to reveal the white cardstock around the aperture and stuck it to the inside section to frame the coordinating ‘my friend’ stamp from the ‘Perfect Punches’ set on the inside.

P1020306

I was trying to make a trail of glitter behind the butterfly as it flew across the page, but the glitter was chucking a tantrum and it made a bit of a mess – oh well – they say you can’t have too much bling! lol.

P1020307

Hope you like it, I’m going to enter it in a challenge at C.R.A.F.T as the girls there have chosen Butterflies as the theme for challenge # 111.

Saying it with Circles makes me Happy

Hi Again,
What a productive week-end!
I’ve made this card for the Annabelle Stamps Challenge of “Say it with Circles”

P1020312

Using orange cardstock I rounded off the corners of my card with corner punch and then made my own patterned paper for the base of this card using Kaiser’s “Circles” stamps. The spotty paper is American Crafts “Play ping pong” and the solid circles are simply cardstock cut with a 1” circle punch. The little stamp of the cake is from the latest Simply Cards magazine’s free set. I’ve used a Star die to cut the stars and stuck little letters to them for the sentiment.

This was certainly a quick card to make as I cased it from Australian Cardmaking Stamping & Papercraft magazine, so thanks to Kristine Collins on page 22 of Vol15 No12!

Girl World Revealed

Hello Again,
See – told you I’d be back sooner rather than later!

I am always talking about being in Girl World, so I thought I’d share with you my crafting space. It’s called Girl World because my husband has a huge shed that he calls Man Land lol.

I was forbidden by hubby to make a mess in the house and was frustrated at trying to keep my desk in the office tidy and as I started accumulating things I thought the best thing to do was to move myself into the garage at the side of our house where all the stuff that doesn’t fit in our little beach house is stored and awaiting the day we sell here and move to a bigger space.
So here it is – the garage at the side of the house AKA Girl World…
P1020280

As I stand at the roller door and look in, this is what I see.
P1020278
To my right is a lovely Balinese sideboard that is being utilised as a cutting station for my Big Shot. (It is fine Mum, I’m not wrecking it okay)

A little further along is a small outdoor table (with it’s chairs stacked up next to it. This is where all my spellbinders, embossing folders, magazines live. You can see that my spellbinders are stored in double cd holders. This is very handy when you want to go somewhere else with them, just zip up and chuck in the take away crate (that’s the purple trolley underneath).
          P1020281

I then come to the main desk, a few trolleys hold my cardstock and papers within easy reach, the floor holds a couple of plastic boxes that hold my stash of ribbons and a pile of paper offcuts ( I drop them in the box when I am working and can sift through it for little tid-bits as required).

Check out all the things to be found on my desk! I really am spoilt wrotten!
There you have it – a full on tour of Girl World – hope you enjoyed your stay.

Purrfect Mojo

Hello Everyone,

I have been having a ball in Girl World today and will have a couple of posts with things to show you coming up – like what Girl World looks like for a start Smile

For now, I had better show off my Mojo Monday for the week – I used not a skerrick of ink anywhere on this card! In the stash was a mini pack of papers and die cuts, I think it came from a Do Crafts Magazine at some stage. Very cute though, here is my card…

P1020308

and here is the sketch this week – Number 199! Awesome!

Mojo199Sketch

I really had fun with this card – here’s what I started with, having co-ordinating papers made it quite easy and it was just a matter of sitting and playing with the elements until they worked. I added the ribbon to frame it.

P1020302

I used an embossing folder over the layered up die cut of the cat and used my SU punches to layer up the sentiment – “have a purrfect day” – too cute!
The pin I made up myself with beads and stuck it through the ribbon and little ribbon flower that I purchased at Spotlight. A nice border punch along the bottom finished it all off nicely.

My Minds Mojo

Hi Everyone,
Hope you are all well and happy.

I’ve put together a quick Mojo Monday card braving the cold out in Girl World ( I think tomorrow I’ll take some photos of Girl World and put up a bit of brag post, I really am very lucky – despite the cold!)

I've used some paper from My Minds Eye, I really love the colour scheme here and I’ve bought a massive 180 page pack that is all along the same colour themes. It’s adorable isn’t it…….see….

P1020277

There is also a sentiment stamp that was purchased at the Brisbane Paper Craft show – yep I bought quite a bit, you haven’t seen the half of it! lol. The little star is a sizzlit die that cuts two parts, I’ve twisted them here. The stitching is “faux” done with a gel pen and the upright banner is made from corrugated cardboard.

The sketch this week was fun to do, here it is if you’d like to do it too…

Mojo198Sketch

Click on the sketch to go to Mojo Monday’s Blog – it’s awesome, there are so very many entries each month it’s wonderful to just browse through the entrants and see who’s done what with the sketch.
Oh, and the best part – the first week each month there’s a prize!
Yep - This week - wish me luck!

p.s, this is how cold it is here…
P1020251  P1020248
ha ha ha – my babies all rugged up and in Pep’s case – stealing my blankies!!! (she jumped into bed as I went to the loo and hubby wrapped her up – do you think I could get her to move?) Just look at the “look” the cat is giving me for removing his blanky to take the pic! grrrr lol

My Gran’s Favourite Flower

Hello Again, told you I'd been busy this sunday - two cards to blog!

Hydrangeas were one of my Gran’s favourite flowers and a few weeks back I won this lovely little stamp on an Ebay auction for a very fair price.

My Stampin Up demonstrator Jane Norrish, showed me how to use my Stampin Write markers to colour stamps, allowing you to use more than one colour on a stamp and It has worked wonderfully here. I also spritzed the stamp with water before stamping to give it a bit of a water colour effect.

P1020271

The background paper is from Kaiser and the cute little butterfly bling was found at my local $2 shop.

I stamped the image on a peice of water colour paper and simply tore it from the book and trimmed it to size, leaving the spine of the page in place. I love the look of it.

I’m going to put this card into the Stampalot Challenge this month, which has the theme “Anything Goes” , along with the Bling It On challenge blog which is the same theme. Very handy I say! Ruby’s Rainbow Challenge theme is Flowers , so we are showing off there too this week!
Hope you like it Winking smile

Good Times Mojo

Hi Everyone,

I’ve stolen some time this Sunday and sneaked out to Girl World to make a couple of cards and chill out after a very busy week of Bookkeeping.

This card is my Mojo submission this week, as well as a challenge I took on to use a digital image from Designed 2 Delight – this image was too close to my heart. I don’t know how many times I’ve stood my thongs up in the sand just like that! I am very lucky to live 500 metres from one of Australia’s most famous surfing beaches – Burleigh Heads Smile

P1020269

This is the Mojo Monday sketch # 197 …as you can see… I chose a round card this week. Gotta say thanks to Spellbinders again for the ability to do this!

Mojo197Sketch

My card was coloured with a combination of Copics and Stampin Write markers. The little paper flower was coloured with the same Copic that the thong straps were done with, it’s amazing the depth of colour with different paper types, that flower really sucked up the colour!  The leaves are made with the Stampin Up “Little Leaves” sizzlit and the image was cut out and framed with yet another spellbinder – Labels Two. I'll enter this at Annabelle Stamps Blog for the Say it with - Frames challenge also :)

I’m off to walk the dog before it gets dark – I’ll be back later with a couple more posts!
